Club stalwart Michael Duffy (39, 35  74) captured the Spring Cup played in winter conditions over the weekend. One off the pace overnight, Duffy produced a steady 35 point round to claim a trophy that had eluded him to date. He now joins his idol, Russell Parker, with his name on the Club’s oldest open trophy.

Other placegetters had good weekends; runner up Brian Millar (36, 36  72), former junior champion Callum White (40, 31  71), Haydn Robinson (36, 35  71), Greg Paddon (36, 34  70) and the now single figure player Pat Buller (32, 37  69) as well as consistent Angus Johnson (34, 35  69). All commented favourably on the golf course and the work of the staff as it was produced in the usual excellent condition.

There are some significant events coming up to close out the season including; Sat 15 Oct 4bbb Stableford (sponsored by David McFarnell & Robert Moule), Sat 22 Oct Bruce Palmer Memorial Day (the Palmer family), Sat 5 Nov Medallist of the Year (Darrell Arnett), Sun 6 Nov Dalkeith Cup (mixed) and Men’s Closing Day & Dinner (PKF).

In the last major of 2015 Jim Forbes continued the theme of senior golfers winning majors following in the footsteps of Lou De Verteuil in the C G Dudley and Peter Senior in the Australian Masters.  Jim put together two great rounds of 36+39 (75) to beat Timothy Tan 36+37 (73). Steven Noske (58) had the best gross score and John Strachan (56) was runner-up gross. Other good scores were Carrick Robinson (73), Neil Watson (70), David McFarnell, Stuart Munro and Joe Alexander (69).   A number of visitors played in the event including Bob Waugh from Bunbury, who was a member of the 1960  & 1961 winning pennant team. The Spring Cup which is one of the oldest events in WA was started in 1935, and was kindly sponsored by Paul Henderson (Grant Elevators), who thought the event was well organised and well supported.  Many thanks to Paul for his long term support for the Spring Cup.
