Current Club Champion Tristan Geerlings had a most successful weekend.

On Saturday he teamed up with Ajay Dhadli in the Canadian Foursomes Event and was successful in winning the coveted Tasmanian Tray as the leading qualifier for the Match Play and will be trying to win the double – The Tasmanian Tray and Tasmanian Bucket. They had an excellent score of 68 off the stick giving them a Nett Score of 67.625. Runners up were Gavin Parker and Andrew Roberts with 69.375 with Andrew Frazer/Damon Watkins and Stewart Wharton/Stuart Waters rounding out the top 4 qualifiers.

Then it was off to Royal Perth Golf Club on Sunday for Tristan for the City of Perth Championship – 36 Holes of Stroke play with the leading 16 players qualifying for the Match Play next weekend.

A fine 2 under par first round of 70 in the morning saw Tristan well placed in equal fourth place. In the afternoon, a second round 74 was good enough for him to qualify in equal 8th place and progress to the Match Play phase of the City of Perth, the second most prestigious Amateur event in the state – after the State Amateur.

In the first round Tristan will play former Nedlands Member Terry Serventy on Saturday morning, commencing at 7.36am. Success will see him progress to the quarter finals in the afternoon. The semi-finals and final will be played on Sunday. Former Junior Member Freddie Lee also qualified for the Match Play.

Edmund Hall was in with a good chance of qualifying after a first round 74. In the second round he was one under after 7 holes until disaster struck on the closing holes, seeing him fail to qualify.

We wish Tristan all the best in his endeavours to win the City of Perth title this weekend.
