27.10.45 – 19.11.21

It is with great sadness we advise members of the passing of Roger Hunt after a long battle with heart problems. He died peacefully on Friday 19th November at the age of 76.

Roger joined the club in 1989 from Sun City and represented Nedlands in pennants for many years. He was always willing to assist the pennant team and provided distance measurement sheets for all away games.

Roger became Chairman of Greens in 1999, a position he held until 2007. He was regularly seen on the course carrying out maintenance work and was Chairman at the time the reticulation system underwent a major upgrade.

He was an active member both on and off the course and on many occasions trapped unsuspecting members into staying longer in the bar than they wanted by simply saying “I’ll buy”.

Roger’s passions were golf, fishing and gardening and on many occasions he provided the course staff and some lucky members with fresh crayfish lunches including salads and fruit grown from his own garden.

Roger became a member of the WA Golf Association Match Committee and also sat on the Executive Committee of WAGA. During this time, he was appointed Manager of the State Senior Team which had success under his leadership. This led him to be appointed non playing Captain/ Manager of several Australian and Asia Pacific Teams including Eisenhower Cup Teams, Nomura Cup Teams and Sir Michael Bonallack Teams.

Roger was highly respected by all golfing bodies including the R and A. the Australian Golf Union, the European Golf Association and the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation.

Our sympathies are extended to his wife Lina, daughter Joli, sons Adrian and Daniel and the extended family at this sad time.

Details of the funeral will follow when known.
