The Division 5 team had a home game yesterday and after the disappointment in Round One were looking for a convincing victory against Wanneroo who had won their Round One match 6/1.

But it was not to be and after a promising start to the day they fell away at the final hurdle and “snatched defeat from the jaws of victory – going down 5/2.

There were a couple of highlights-

New member Jack Ellis making his debut for the club had a convincing 5/4 victory in the no 1 position.

Playing no 2, Dave Southam was never headed and won 7/6.

Unfortunately, John Samuels, Damon Watkins and John Venner let their chances slip in the concluding stages of their matches

Captain Scott van Heurck went down fighting against an opponent who nearly holed out on the 16th – but Scott holed a 20-footer to halve the hole and keep the match alive.

First Round winner Dylan Morgan never got going until too late and went down 4/2.

This now makes the chances of making the finals as remote as “Flagmantle” making the final four – not impossible but not probable.

Next week the Division 5 team tackle Lakelands at Lakelands at 8.20am.

In their quest for elevation to Division 2 in 2024, the Division 3 team will look for a first up win at Sea View against Meadow Springs commencing at 11.45am.
