News: Policy for use of Carts during Winter/Spring
Published on 28th May 2019 in Members
Members will recall the extreme damage the Golf Course suffered during winter and early spring last year to several areas of the tee approaches, along some of the shaded fairway areas and alongside some greens.
The main affected areas were the exit and entry areas to/from the first tee of the paved area, the shaded areas on the first 150m on the right of the first and eighth fairways, the area leading to the 2nd tee right of the pathway and the access-way between the 9th fairway and the 6th tee.
In order to minimise damage, the following rules for the use of carts during Winter are to be observed:
1. People who hit off the first tee can only enter and exit from the pathway by cart once during an 18 hole round. This also applies to people who hit off the 6th tee. The alternative is to park the cart in the rough left of the 1st tee.
2. Wherever possible carts should be driven in the rough rather than on the fairways.
3. Carts are not to be driven or parked inside the mown apron area of greens nor within 5 metres of the front of greens (if no blue line is present) or closer than any marked blue line in front of or to the side of the green.
4. Carts are not permitted to be driven across tees or be parked upon them.
5. Do not accelerate speedily especially on a full steering lock as this does as much, if not more damage than a divot mark whether in the rough or on the fairway.
6. Entry of a cart to the car-park to pick up or drop off clubs shall be via the path nearest the car-park or the gate that will be left open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Entry to the car-park via the pathway to the first tee is not permitted.
7. When entering or exiting any pathway if hoops or ropes aren’t in place don’t always go to the end of the pathway but divert to either side to spread the wear.
8. Whenever possible people should share carts. The maximum allowable number of carts per group is two.
The policy is effective 1st June 2019.
