WINTER CUP REPORT
One of the oldest majors in the men’s calendar the Winter cup for 2020 was played over the weekend proudly sponsored by Andrew Frazer.
Played in mostly fine weather conditions there were some good scores on both days with Shane Maloney and Dave Hogg leading the way with four up closely followed by Steve Noske and Jeff Lane on three up on Saturday.
On Sunday the leaders were not able to repeat their good form in tougher conditions and they were overtaken by Zhiming Li and Aiden Cooper who had fine rounds of five up, with Ron Parkin behind them with four up.
Both Zhiming Li and Aiden Cooper had identical scores for both days and on a count back Zhiming was declared the winner for 2020 so congratulations to him.
Aiden can count himself unlucky as in most years I am sure his score would have been good enough. This seems to be the trend these days as many of majors have gone down to the wire.
All the players that took part enjoyed their bacon and egg burger on Saturday and I am sure the curry on Sunday went down very well and we thank John our chef for his culinary skills.
Well done and thanks also to Melissa and bar staff for all their work during the weekend.
