Over the course of the last week the British Amateur was played at Royal Lytham and St Annes – just north of Liverpool.

The winner was a 17 year old by the name of ALDRCH POTGIETER. Does the name ring a bell?

To those who may be interested ALDRICH is a South African born golfer who is a member of Joondalup Country Club with a Handicap of +4. He flew under the radar during the amateur as he is listed as South African.

More importantly to us at Nedlands he was the winner of the 2021 NEDLANDS JUNIOR MASTERS and now he gets a start at the 2023 AUGUSTA MASTERS.

Another name to the growing list of champions who have won either the Nedlands Masters or Junior Masters.

After 36 holes of qualifying and a further 7 rounds of match play, Aldrich defeated Englishman Sam Bairstow 3/2 in the high quality 36 hole final.

In addition to The 2023 Masters the win gives him starts in –

The 2022 150th Open Championship at St Andrews

          The 2023 US Open

Invitations to at least one DP World Tour Event

Not bad for a 17 year old from Perth.

Congratulations Aldrich.
