While Ray Badnall was having a operation on Monday the 27th May his orange team led by Vice Senior Captain Gavin Furness was victorious in the final against Kennedy Bay at Wanneroo Golf Club.

The match was played in fine sunny conditions and after the first pairing of Richard Lee / Ako Futaesaku winning their match 3 and 2  (they have looked solid all year round) the next pairing of

Joe Alexander / Bruce Palmer lost their match 2 and 3.

Followed by Steven Noske / Phil McCann who lost in a very tightly fought contest 1 and 2.

As the light was fading the marquee pairing of Gavin Furness / Greg Paddon won their match comfortably 4 and 3 to leave the match all square at two apiece.

This would leave our only pair on the course Ian McDonald / Lou Pelliccia to literally finish in the dark.

Being one up and going to the 17th hole Ian played a magnificent shot on to the green with his second and although he knew it was on the green, he did not know just how close it was to the pin.

As it turned out Lou got his par leaving Ian to sink the birdie (600mm)  in the dark to win the match for Nedlands Golf Club 3 / 2.

The match could not  have continued any longer as to say it was dark would be an understatement.

Ray would like to thank all the players who took part in the team success  including – Greg Parry and Ian Mumford.

Thank you also to Greg Fitzhardinge who kept us informed and supporting the team on the day.

A big thank you to our sponsor Dale from Ellendale Travel for her continued support.

Congratulations and well done to the squad.
