The O & S Allom Bowl, the first Mixed Major of the year was held on Sunday the 14th of June . The mixed Foursomes Championship, a gross event which commenced in 1970, was kindly sponsored by Gabi and John Holt.
In a big field of 60 players this year were repeat winning pairs of Cath Bellemore and Paul Baster (11 times), and Grace and Gavin Furness (3 times) and these partnerships were the favorites to take home the trophy. However in an upset, a new pairing emerged to take home their second mixed major event with Chris and Stewart Wharton combining superbly to shoot a gross score of 86 to win the Championship by one shot from Rhonda Moore and Tim Tan, and Nikki Bellemore-Thomas and David Fear.
Nikki Bellemore-Thomas and David Fear won the Nett event with an excellent score of 71 followed by Mandy Sudlow-Browne and Scott Van Heurck with a score of 73. Grade Nett winners were awarded prizes for the first time in this event. A Grade was won by Grace and Gavin Furness; B Grade was won by Krystyna Knottnerus and Tony Cowan; and C Grade by Kath Fordham and Gerhard Sauracker.
A great afternoon was had by all, with good food and great company in the Clubhouse after the event. A big thank you to the Holts for their generosity in making this long running event a success.
