DIVISION TWO

The Division Two team travelled to SEA VIEW for its Round Five clash with the undefeated BUNBURY Team. With the hopes of elevation to Division One dashed the team had to win at least one (and possibly 2) of its last three matches to ensure they would remain in Division Two in 2022.

It was a perfect day for golf and it does not come much better if you have to play at Sea View. Unfortunately, the perfect weather was not matched by the perfect score with Bunbury winning 6-1. The only Nedlands winner was Ben Cullinan – 3 and 1

Riley Gott tried hard but was eventually overcome by his opponent whilst the remaining members were beaten by better opposition on the day.

Now the last two games of the season are going to be tough for the team. Next week the Round Six encounter will be against Lakelands at Lakelands, with the final match at home against a strong Royal Perth team who will desperately trying to win to return to Division One.

It is a must for the team to win at least one of those two matches to remain in Division Two and then there is no guarantee.

Good luck to the boys at Lakelands next week.

DIVISION FIVE

The Division Five team were pitted against WANNEROO at Royal Perth. Both teams were looking for their second victory of the season.

At the end of the day, it was Nedlands who took home the bacon in an extremely hard fought and close encounter. The ultimate 4/3 victory included two halved matches that could have gone either way

Reegan Cake had a convincing 6/5 victory to get the team off to a good start, Aidan Cooper continued in winning form in the number one position with a 3/2 win. David Rees kept his unbeaten record in tact with a 2/1 win and David Southam and Scott Van Heurck squared their matches.

Next week the team travels to The Vines for an early morning start against WA Golf Club who are one place below us with the same number of wins.

Team Captain Scott van Heurck said after the win on Sunday –

After a couple of close losses in weeks 1 and 2 we are clawing our way up the ladder and a good win next Sunday will see us further improve.”
